ABOUT APCLG 2022
This 2-day virtual conference on language and gender brings together scholars and student-researchers from the Asia Pacific region and beyond to present new and emerging research on language and gender, with a specific focus on sustainability and equity. This conference highlights the important roles language play in not only shaping our understanding and construction of gender, but also in the multiple ways language and gender interlink to impact on the lived experiences of women, men, and children. With Universiti Sains Malaysia's (USM) sustainability agenda in mind, this conference targets the following SDG goals, by highlighting the role of language:
SDG 5: Language and Gender Equality
SDG 4: Language and Quality Education
SDG 10: Language and Reduced Inequalities
SDG 11: Language and Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 16: Language and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Therefore, the papers presented at the conference do not merely look at language and gender, but the issues they touch are discussed in consideration of sustainability, equality and equity in their target communities.
